2026 Triangle Roofing Reputation Report

We analyzed 119 roofing company listings and 15,917 Google reviews to establish reputation benchmarks for roofers across Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Durham, Wake Forest and the broader Triangle.

Online ratings are unusually strong across the Triangle roofing market. The average company in our dataset held a 4.84-star Google rating, while the median was even higher at 4.9 stars. That means a high rating alone does not do much to distinguish one roofer from another.

Review volume creates more separation. The average company had about 134 reviews, but the median had only 83. A relatively small group of heavily reviewed companies raises the market average, while half of the listings remained below 83 reviews.

The practical benchmark: A Triangle roofer reaches the middle of this market at 83 Google reviews, the top quarter at roughly 179 reviews and the top 10% at about 310 reviews.

Key findings

Ratings are compressed 73% rated 4.9 or higher

87 of the 119 listings had a rating of at least 4.9 stars.

Review volume varies widely 44% had 100+ reviews

53 companies had crossed the 100-review threshold.

Large review profiles are rare Only 6 had 500+

Just 5% of the companies had accumulated at least 500 reviews.

The long tail is substantial 44 had fewer than 50

More than one-third of the listings remained below 50 reviews.

How many reviews does a top Triangle roofer have?

“Top” depends on the standard being used. Review count does not measure workmanship, but it does show how much public feedback a company has accumulated. Based on this dataset, these are useful review-volume benchmarks for the Triangle market:

The gap between 83 reviews at the median and 310 reviews at the 90th percentile is more informative than the small difference between a 4.8- and 4.9-star rating. In a market where nearly three-quarters of listings carry a 4.9 or 5.0, the depth of the review profile becomes a more meaningful point of comparison.

Highest-Rated Roofers in the Triangle With at Least 100 Google Reviews

A perfect rating based on only a handful of reviews is not directly comparable with a perfect rating maintained across hundreds of reviews. To add a meaningful volume threshold, this list includes only companies with at least 100 Google reviews. Companies are ordered first by rating and then by review count.

What the data means for homeowners

A high Google rating should be treated as an initial screening signal, not a complete evaluation. Ratings are tightly clustered in this market, and review volume can show whether that rating is supported by a substantial history of customer feedback. Homeowners should still verify current licensing where applicable, insurance, warranties, manufacturer certifications, recent references and the exact scope of any estimate.

The report also highlights why there is no responsible way to identify a “best” roofer using stars alone. A company may have strong ratings but specialize in a different roof type, service territory or project size than a homeowner needs.

What the data means for roofing companies

A 4.9-star rating is excellent, but it is also common among Triangle roofers. For established companies, review volume and the consistency of new reviews may be more useful reputation benchmarks. In this dataset, reaching 179 reviews would place a company around the top quarter by volume; reaching 310 would place it around the top 10%.

Methodology

Triangle Roofing Report compiled Google rating and review-count data for 119 roofing company listings discovered through local searches covering Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Durham, Chapel Hill and nearby communities. The data was collected in June 2026.

Each Google listing was treated as a separate observation. The listed city reflects the location associated with that profile and does not necessarily represent every area the company serves. Regional companies, franchises and businesses headquartered outside the Triangle may appear if their listings were surfaced for the local market.

Ratings and review counts change continuously. This report is a snapshot, not a permanent score. We did not evaluate review text, remove suspected reviews, inspect completed roofs or verify every company’s license, insurance, certifications or complaint history for this initial analysis.
